Bathtime resistance
They don't want to get in. They don't want to get out. You're soaked.
Try saying
- “Do you want bubbles or no bubbles?”
Refusing to step into the tub
- “Walking feet or carrying?”
Refusing to step into the tub
For each age
Preschool (3–5)
- “I hear you. We're still going to take the bath.”
- “Do you want me to sing or be quiet?”
- “Three minutes of warm water, then out. I'll set a timer.”
Playful first, firm second is faster than firm only. Pure firmness invites the fight.
Toddler (1–3)
- “Do you want bubbles or no bubbles?”
- “Walking feet or carrying?”
- “I'm getting in the water with my hands. You can watch first.”
Two choices inside the same outcome restore agency without ceding the bath itself.
